CARLOS GONZALEZ

THE1POINT8

Carlos began his photography journey in the early 2010s, drawn to the raw energy of film, street culture, and the visual language of Los Angeles. What started as an exploration of graffiti and contemporary art quickly led him to document some of the most influential artists of our time—Shepard Fairey, Futura, JR, Ai Weiwei, Kenny Scharf, and Tom Sachs—capturing not just their work, but the cultural movement behind it.

As his vision expanded, Carlos turned his lens toward music and portraiture, building a body of work that reflects the pulse of contemporary culture. He’s photographed icons like The Rolling Stones, Kendrick Lamar, Run The Jewels, Selena Gomez, Elton John, and Childish Gambino—artists whose influence defines a generation. In 2020, his portrait of Thundercat lit up Spotify’s Times Square billboard, while his BLM protest images appeared on the back cover of Rolling Stone—a rare and powerful placement.

That same year, he was featured in Art The Jewels, a global exhibition chronicling the rise of Run The Jewels. His work continued to gain visibility through campaigns like YouTube’s Black Voices, with billboards in L.A., NYC, and London, and in 2022, he earned Gold and Platinum honors from MarCom, Muse Creative, and Hermes for his dynamic visuals capturing BET’s Hip Hop Awards cypher.

In recent years, Carlos has brought his signature cinematic style to major campaigns for Google, Netflix, Lowe’s, and American Express, photographing cultural icons such as Lionel Messi, Naomi Campbell, Sha’Carri Richardson, Travis Kelce, and Bronny James.

based in Los Angeles, Carlos continues to work across portraiture, editorial, and commercial photography, while also directing short-form narrative content. His work lives at the intersection of art, music, identity, and culture—always searching for the image that defines the moment
